Snow Days in January

Nic and Hunter made an igloo for us. When they were working on it, I thought it would be half this size. We were all impressed with how BIG and how cool it is!!!

These are a few pics of the snow storm of Jan. 09...I can't help but comment about the beauty of snow, especially when I imagine its beauty through the eyes of my children. When snow is falling, the world seems to be at peace; children are unified in their amazement and curiosity as though with the snow comes magic. A magic that transforms our busy home into the most cozy & comfortingly warm haven where all who dwell there will safe, sound, AND adventerous.
The Lord is close to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. ~ Psalm 145:18

Academic Champions

The statewide assessment achievement scores are in!! It is official, the Fab Four made the "grade"!! Although Nic is not in these pictures, he was also declared to be an Academic Champion. Our school district gave each child who scored at least a Proficient and/or Distinguished in ALL academic areas an "Academic Champion" t-shirt, bracelet and car sticker (the re-usable kind) that says, "Proud to Be the Parent of an Academic Champion". At least one sibling out the Fab Four even scored PERFECT scores in several content areas. The content areas include Math, Reading, Science, AND Arts & Humanities. I'm not telling who it is only because I don't want to embarress them :). We decided to turn these moments into a photo opportunity. So, relax and enjoy the sweet smiles. By the way, I am happy and impressed with each of them for all of their accomplishments. And, that reminds me, my four great accomplishments call me "Mom".

Surround me with your tender mercies so I may live, for your instructions are my delight.~ Psalm 119:77

The Jonas Brothers concert

So, we had an amazing time at the Riverfront. The Jonas Brothers' concert was everything we hoped it would be! They put on a fabulous show and everyone was thrilled to see it. Below you will see Grace, the view we had of the stage (behind Grace), and Kelli's Mom (Shane). Shane actually gave Amber her seat so Amber and Kelli (this was her 16th birthday, gift) could have the full experience together :). Here we are at the gate, waiting to get in. You can see the crowd behind us. The crowd was huge, of course, but we were not bothered by that at all.

Here we are "in line" to be let in at 2:00. The gate opened at 5, but we wanted to be the first ones in, and guess what?, we were!

I'm definately counting this as a BLESSING!
Avril Lavigne was the first to come on stage. The flag you see is hers and not the Jonas Brothers'. She sings, "Boyfriend", "Since You've Been Gone", and "Appreciate".
Grace has her new t-shirt on! Hannah was right beside her but she wasn't interested in any photo opts. Ha. Overall, we were thankful to have this time together. As a parent, it is truly a joy to share in your child(ren)'s interests, experiences, and happiness. We did all of this and more.
